    Proposal Description
The location of Beachwood lends itself to such a proposal of a resort and residential estate as it is along a prime coastline and is surrounded by natural and ecological amenities. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), after having gone through a public participation process as prescribed by NEMA resulted in an Environmental Authorisation granted by EDTEA in early 2021. The public participation process was extensive with some 2482 registered letters having been issued to the entire surrounding community and further the application was publicly advertised both in English and isiZulu on two occasions. Given the sale of the land and the successful approval by the eThekwini’s SPLUMA to introduce a new zone i.e. Special Zone; Beachwood Coastal Estate, we believe that the existing Beachwood Golf Clubhouse and its associated buildings are now misaligned with the future development of the site as a luxury coastal estate.
