Interim Comment

The SAHRA, DAU notes the submission of the draft Scoping Report and request that:

• the field based HIA be undertaken by a suitably qualified archaeologist and the Desktop PIA be undertaken by a qualified professional palaeontologist. The assessments must comply with section 38(3) of the National Heritage Resources Act, Act 25 of 1999 (NHRA), and they must follow the SAHRA 2007 Minimum Standards: Archaeological and Palaeontological Components of Impact Assessment Reports and section 38(3) of the NHRA. 
• DEIA and its appendices in support of EA application must be submitted to the case.

The SAHRA will comment further on the application when the above-mentioned documents are submitted. The applicant is advised to extend the EA process in terms of section 19(1) of the NEMA EIA regulations in order to address this comment.
