Proposal Description
I wish to use two decorated potsherds from the Iron Age bed at the Cave of Hearths for OSL dating in the School of Geosciences (Wits). The two potsherds are:
- Potsherd 1: a piece of pottery marked: 6408 CH0-12”, marked 127 on cello-tape. The sherd is 80 x 70mm in size, and weigh 76 grams. The thickness is 11 mm. It has minimal decoration: only a single incision line is present.
- Potsherd 2: a piece of pottery without an accession number, and without decoration. The dimensions of the sherd are 65 x 60mm, and it weighs 63 grams. The thickness is 14 mm.
