KIARA PV CLUSTER ELECTRICAL GRID INFRASTRUCTURE, NORTH WEST PROVINCE

The Applicant, Voltalia South Africa (Pty) Ltd (Voltalia SA), is proposing the development of electrical grid connection infrastructure (EGI) for the Kiara PV Cluster. The project is to be known as the Kiara PV Cluster Electrical Grid Infrastructure (EGI). The EGI is proposed on a site located approximately 16km north-east of the town of Lichtenburg, within the Ditsobotla Local Municipality and the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality in the North West Province. The full extent of the project falls within the Northern Corridor of the Strategic Transmission Corridors. The development of the Kiara PV Cluster EGI is required to enable the connection for the Kiara Cluster of Renewable Energy Facilities, which comprises seven (7) solar photovoltaic (PV) energy facilities which range from 120 MW to 130MW, to the national grid.
