Proposal Description
Jasmyn Energy Facility (RF) (Pty) Ltd, proposes the installation and establishment of the Jasmyn Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Associated Infrastructure to accommodate the storage of excess energy/electricity during low demand time periods that will evacuate the stored electricity into the national grid, via the existing Eskom Midas Substation1, during high demand/peak periods for electricity use. The associated infrastructure includes an on-site substation, internal roads, operation and maintenance buildings, fencing and other auxiliary infrastructure. The capacity of the BESS will be up to 100 MW and is proposed to be BID as part of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) BID Window 2 for the Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP). The development is proposed on the Remaining Extent of Portion 35 and the Remaining Extent of Portion 36 of the Farm Leeuwpoort No. 356, Registration Division JQ, situated within the Merafong City Local Municipality, West Rand District Municipality within the Gauteng Province.
