Proposed Expansion of the Overburden Stockpile and Haul Road, and the existing and proposed Topsoil Dumps

Thungela Operations (Pty) Ltd (“Thungela”): Khwezela North Colliery (“Navigation”) proposes the expansion of the existing overburden stockpiling area. The expansion of the overburden material stockpile will cover an area of 5.6 hectares. The expansion of the overburden stockpile will result in the existing road being utilised for hauling. Therefore, Navigation proposed to expand the existing road and repurpose it as a haul road. The expansion of the road will also demand for the relocation of the powerlines which runs along the road. Furthermore, the topsoil dumps (existing and proposed) are hereby included as part of this project.
