THE PROPOSED UPGRADE OF THE NATIONAL ROUTE N2, SECTIONS 26 AND 27, FROM THE OTHONGATHI TOLL PLAZA (N2/26 KM 21.0) TO THE BALLITO INTERCHANGE (N2/27 KM 7.4)

It is the intention of the South African National Roads Agency Soc Ltd (SANRAL) to upgrade the National Route 2 Sections 26 and 27 from the uThongathi Toll Plaza (N2/26, km 21.0) to the Ballito Interchange (N2/27 km 7.4), KwaZulu-Natal Province. The route portions under review are National Route 2 Section 26/km 21.0 to km 24.3 and Section 27/km 0.0 to km 7.4 between the uThongathi Toll Plaza (northern side) and the northern extent of the Ballito Interchange and include the tie points of the Shaka’s Rock Interchanges’ southern ramps. Section 27/km 0.0 starts at the northern end of the uThongathi River Bridge. The total length of the project is 11.7 km. The road is currently approximately 11.4 wide. The entire project falls within the existing N2 road reserve.
