PERMIT APPLICATION TO CONDUCT A GROUND-PENETRATING RADAR SURVEY AND TEST EXCAVATIONS AT MAPUNGUBWE NATIONAL PARK LOCATED WITHIN THE MUSINA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, VHEMBE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, NEAR MUSINA, IN THE LIMPOPO PROVINCE

PGS Heritage (Pty) Ltd, acting under the mandate of the South African National Parks (SANParks), has been engaged to execute a Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey along with test excavations. The primary objective is to establish the presence or absence of graves within a designated area close to the day visitor’s precinct within the Mapungubwe National Park. This targeted area has been identified based on assertions made by individuals purporting to have historical residency within the vicinity of Mapungubwe located within the Musina Local Municipality, Vhembe District Municipality, near Musina, in the Limpopo Province.
