Interim comment
SAHRA notes the submitted Background Information Document (BID), Draft Scoping Report (DSR) and Heritage Scoping Report. As per the recommendations, the study area must be subjected to the HIA and since the development is located in an area of high to very high palaeontological sensitivity, a PIA assessment must be undertaken by a qualified palaeontologist and the report must comply with the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Components of Heritage Impact Assessments. In addition, the DEIA and its appendices must be uploaded to the case. Further comments will be issued upon the submission of the above-requested studies. The applicant is advised to extend the EA process in terms of section 19(1) of the NEMA EIA regulations in order to address this comment.
