Interim Comment

The SAHRA, Development Applications Unit (DAU) notes the submission of the Heritage Baseline Report and DBAR. The SAHRA supports the author’s recommendation that a Heritage Walkthrough be conducted prior to construction. In addition, as per the palaeontological heritage, the SA Palaeontological Sensitivity Map indicates that the study area has a Very High fossil sensitivity, therefore a palaeontological assessment and protocol for finds is required. Further comments will be issued upon the submission of the Heritage Walkdown and PIA reports. The applicant is advised to extend the EA process in terms of section 19(1) of the NEMA EIA regulations in order to address this comment.
