Proposal Description
Following non-intrusive techniques and methods in the Rules of the 2001 Convention and South Africa policies and legislations, we use marine magnetometers followed by underwater archaeologists dive to ‘ground-truth’ anomalies in the geophysical data and to record remains in proposed 5km×5 km survey area in Arniston coast of Ryspunt in Western Cape. The research group is composed of professionals from the National Centre for Archaeology China, IZIKO Museums, ACHA and University of Cape Town, all with underwater archaeological experiences and diving certificates.
