Export of phytolith samples from Witberg 1, Northern Cape

Phytolith analysis will be carried out at the University of Barcelona following standard extraction procedures using hydrochloric acid to dissolve carbonate minerals and a 2.4 g/ml sodium polytungstate solution to separate the silica phytoliths from heavier minerals. The objects to study are 35 loose sediment samples individually packaged in sealed plastic bags with unique identifying barcode labels. An Excel worksheet has been uploaded, which lists the samples to be studied, with sample location and description.
