    Proposal Description
    Mulilo Renewable Project Developments (Pty) Ltd (Mulilo) are proposing to develop the authorised Du Plessis Dam Solar Photovoltatic (PV) 2 Facility on the remainder of Du Plessis Dam 179 in the Northern Cape Province. The project will have a proposed export capacity of 75 MW. The project falls under the Emthanjeni Local Municipality which is under the greater Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality.
    It is understood that the Du Plessis Dam PV2 facility received environmental authorisation (EA) in 2015.
    Mulilo has appointed WSP Africa Pty Ltd (WSP) an Independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake the following tasks:
     Review the existing EA and EMPr against the latest Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
     Listing Notices and ensure that all applied activities are up to date and sufficient;
     Update EMPr and layout in line with best practice (include more detailed infrastructure);
    Split out and amend the Grid Infrastructure from the EA:
     Overhead Powerline (OHPL), access roads and Eskom switching station;
     Amend gridline connection point within authorised corridor; and
     Conduct a thorough review of the EA and EMPr pre-construction requirements and conditions for actions needed.

    In 2014, Du Plessis Solar PV2 (Pty) Ltd appointed Aurecon (Pty) Ltd (Aurecon) to facilitate the Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) process for the construction and operation of the 75MW DU Plessis Dam PV facility. In September 2015, the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) (now known as the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment – DFFE) issued the Environmental Authorisation (EA) (DEA Ref: 14/12/16/3/3/2/455).
    The EA authorised the 75 MW PV facility and its associated Grid Connection and infrastructure on the Remainder of the Farm Du Plessis Dam 179 near the town of De Aar. Furthermore, both the layout and Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) were approved.
