Grid Connection Infrastructure for Masana Solar PL 5 near Hennenman, Free State Province

The proposed project entails the development of grid connection infrastructure which consists of 132kV single/double-circuit overhead power line with the associated infrastructure on the Remaining Extent of the farm Maatschappy No. 295. A 400m wide (including temporary working area), grid connection corridor is being assessed for the placement of the powerline route. The length of the powerline is dependent on which alternative is authorised. The alternatives are detailed below:
Preferred route: ~2,1km in length.
Alternative route 1: ~14,3km in length.
Alternative route 2: ~7,36km in length
The preferred alternative will commence at the on-site substation and connect to the proposed Phemelo Solar PV facility on-site substation. The alternative grid connection will commence at the on-site substation and will connect at either the Eskom Everest Substation or the Eskom Leander Substation. A service road beneath the powerline is required for maintenance purposes.
