Grid Connection Infrastructure for Meru Solar PL 1 near Hennenman, Free State Province

The proposed project entails the development of grid connection infrastructure which consists of 132kV single/double-circuit overhead power line with the associated infrastructure on the Farm Prettig No. 583. A 400m wide (including temporary working area), grid connection corridor is being assessed for the placement of the powerline route. The length of the powerline is dependent on which alternative is authorised. The alternatives are detailed below:
Preferred route: ~2,83km in length.
Alternative route 1: ~20,5km in length.
Alternative route 2: ~13km in length
The preferred alternative will connect to the proposed Phemelo Solar PV facility on-site substation. The alternative grid connection connects into the existing Eskom Everest or Leander Substations, or a switching station in proximity to the powerline. A service road beneath the powerline is required for maintenance purposes.
