Grid Connection Infrastructure for Phemelo Solar PL 3 near Hennenman, Free State Province

The proposed project entails the development of grid connection infrastructure which consists of 132kV single/double-circuit overhead power line with the associated infrastructure on the Remaining Extent of the farm Maatschappy No. 295. A 400m wide (including temporary working area), grid connection corridor is being assessed for the placement of the powerline route. The length of the powerline is dependent on which alternative is authorised. The alternatives are detailed below:
Preferred route: ~12,4km in length.
Alternative route 1: ~5,59km in length.
Alternative route 2: ~4,83km in length
The power line is proposed to connect into the existing Eskom Everest or Leander Substations, or a switching station in proximity to the powerline. The preferred alternative will commence at the on-site substation and connect to the Eskom Leander substation. The alternative grid connection will commence at the on-site substation and will connect at either the Eskom Everest Substation or via a Loop in Loop out connection into the Eskom Everest Leander 1 132kV Overhead Powerline. A service road beneath the powerline is required for maintenance purposes.
