Proposal Description
The proposed project entails the development of a Solar PV Facility to generate up to 100MW and associated infrastructure for Battery Storage and transmission of electricity to existing substations (Motherwell Substation or San Souci via Winterhoek Substation).
The extent for the Solar PV Facility is approximately 250 hectares. This will include the development of the solar field, buildings and associated infrastructure. Existing access roads will be used although there will be a need for development of new access roads within the PV application area and parallel to the transmission lines.
The proposed Pioneer Solar PV Facility will be located on Farm Papenkuils Vley 299 located outside Gqeberha, in Ward 53, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Eastern Cape. The geographic co-ordinates of the central point are as follows: 33°44'40.19"S, 25°31'54.41"E and the SG 21-digit Code is C07600000000029900000.
The electrical transmission lines traverse a number of farms and erven. The electrical transmission line to San Souci via Winterhoek Substation falls in Wards 21, 29, 44, 48, 51, 52 and 53 and the transmission line to Motherwell Substation in Wards 53, 54 and 30.
