Proposal Description
Tantalum Renewables (Pty) Ltd proposes the construction and operation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated grid infrastructure on a site located ~14km east of the town of Carletonville along the R501 and 14km south-west of the town of Westonaria along the N12 in the Gauteng Province. The project will be located on four portions of Farm Driefontein No. 355 within the Merafong Local Municipality, which lies within the jurisdiction of the West Rand District Municipality. The BESS will store and supply dispatchable energy as and when required by the off-taker.
