Proposal Description
Monnapula Mining has applied for a Prospecting Right from the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) in terms of Section 16 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (MPRDA). The PR application area is 2614.53 ha and is located on Portion 0 of the Gappepin Reserve 670 within the Tstantsabane Local Municipality and the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Northern Cape Province.
Monnapula Mining is applying for Environmental Authorisation in terms of Section 24 of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (NEMA), and the 2014 EIA Regulations (as amended) for proposed prosecting and associated activities.
Proposed prospecting activities will take place over three years and include desktop research, geophysical surveys, geological mapping and modelling. Invasive prospecting activities will include the development of access roads and drilling of 20 exploration boreholes (50 - 100 m deep).
