Rose Cottage Cave lithics

Export of a sample of 203 lithic artefacts from the Howiesons Poort and post-Howiesons Poort layers of Rose Cottage Cave (Free State) for the purposes of a detailed functional study. The sample has been selected following a preliminary analysis at the University of Witwatersrand. The detailed analysis is entirely non-destructive and involves the observation and imaging of mechanical wear on the artefacts using a range of microscopes, and the interpretation of the wear traces with the help of experimental reference material. The analysis requires specialised equipment, for which reason an export permit is requested.
