Environmental Authorisation Application Process for the proposed Solar Photovoltaic Plant at the Blyvoor Gold Mine, Gauteng Notice of Intent to Develop

Decentral Energy Managers (Pty) Ltd (Decentral Energy) appointed Digby Wells Environmental (Digby Wells) as an independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake an Environmental Authorisation (EA) application for the proposed Blyvoor Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Plant which falls within the jurisdiction of the Merafong City Local Municipality (MCLM) within the West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) in Gauteng. The proposed solar plant will be constructed in two phases where Phase 1 will entail the construction of a 20-MegaWatt (MW) PV plant and Phase 2 will comprise a 300-500 MW PV plant. The NID is submitted together with a Request for Exemption (RfE) from further heritage studies as the Project area is altered by previous mining activities and no heritage resources were recorded during the field assessment.
