SCHURVEKOP SUBSTATION, SWITCHING STATION AND 132KV LINE

The scope of work is constructing Schurvekop Substation, a 132 kV metering point and switching station, and a 9km 132kV line from the existing Eskom Ysterkop 132/22kV substation to the proposed Schurvekop Substation.

The Application for Environmental Authorisation is for the construction of the following:
 Construct a ± 9km overhead 132kV lines, from the proposed Schurvekop Switching station to Eskom Ysterkop substation.
 Construct a Switching station.
 Construct Power line structures/ stayed monopole steel poles within 32 meters of a waterbody along the 132kV feeder line and excavate more than 10 cubic metres of soil and rock from a watercourse.
 Clear an area of 1.38 hectares for the Schurvekop switching station and Schurvekop Substation site.
 Clear more than 300 square metres of indigenous vegetation (1.25ha) to construct a temporary laydown area.
 Develop access roads of wider than 4 metres to construct the power line.
 Construct a 1 X 10 MVA, 132/11kV Schurvekop substation.
