The permit application in respect of the above, received on the 24th of April 2024 reviewed by the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute (The Institute) on the 2nd of May 2024 refers.
Please be advised as follows:
- The application was discussed however, the committee noted that the work had been conducted on site without an AMAFA approval.
- The applicant was also advised about the significance of the property which they did not acknowledge. The work was said to have been completed in October 2023 (as per Form I).
- The applicant did not apply for any proposed work, it is therefore recommended that a new application for the proposed work (Form A) be submitted onto the case file.
- The applicant is further required to submit an affidavit stating why they went ahead with the additions and alterations without an AMAFA approval.
- Additional photographs showing all elevations are required.
- A site inspection has been tabled for the 13th of June 2024, this is to assess the significance of the site and how the alterations have impacted the site.
Written responses/requests for reconsideration of the application or consideration of new information must be loaded to the case on Sahris (email [email protected]) within 30 days of the date of this letter or any requirements/decisions contained herein will be considered final. Extensions of this time frame can be requested upon receipt of motivation.
Required additional information or revised drawings must be submitted within six months from the date of this letter or the application will lapse and a new application will be required.
THIS LETTER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE FORMAL APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO THE INSTITUTE. UNAUTHORISED WORK CARRIED OUT ON THE ABOVE SITE WILL BE IN CONTRAVENTION OF THE KWAZULU-NATAL AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE ACT (5 of 2018).
