VanMag Mining Right Application

VanMag were granted MR (DMR Ref: LP 30/1/2/5/2/10186 MR) granted by the Department of Mineral Rights and Energy (DMRE) in terms of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Act (Act No. of 2002) (MPRDA), which expired on the 19th July 2021. The MR is currently in the process of being renewed, in terms of the MPRDA. As part of this renewal application VanMag revised their Mining Work Programme (MWP) which included the extraction of resources on all farms within the approved MR area. VanMag is currently not environmentally authorised to conduct mining activities outside the approved footprints of their existing approved Environmental Management Programme Report (EMPR) on the farm Gezond 235 KR. For this reason, VanMag is applying for the EA to the DMRE in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) for their mining expansion aspiration on the farms Inhabane 802 LR, Mozambique 807 LR, Molendraai 811 LR, Commandodrift 228 KR.
