Proposal Description
The Fetakgomo-Tubatse Industrial Park (FTIP) proposes the development of infrastructures located on Portions 11 -18, 20 – 23 and 28 of the Farm Spitskop 333 KT with an aerial extent of 1 780 Ha along the R555 road, situated in the Steelpoort area, Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality, Limpopo Province. In 2022 LEAD appointed an Environmental Specialist who conducted an EIA for FTSEZ and in compliance with NEMA and LEMA the Environmental Authorization was granted mainly for the following activities:
• Rezoning for various proposed sectors,
• Buildings, and
• Fencing and cleaning of site.
The proposed activities trigger Listed Activities in terms of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations as promulgated under the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA). Fetakgomo-Tubatse Industrial Park (FTIP), through LEDA appointed Nkhophele Holdings to undertake an application for Environmental Authorisation for the proposed development for the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Special Economic Zone (FTSEZ).
The proposed development includes the following:
• 500mm pipeline with 202 l/s throughput,
• 12 202 kl/d (1830 kl/d + 3759 kl/d + 6613 kl/d) wastewater treatment plant,
• 215 00 m3 attenuation dams x3,
• Roads reserve 16m to 32m wide,
• 219 MVA, and
• Water storage.
