ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION PROCESS FOR THE SCHAAPKRAAL AND ZWARTKOPPIES PROSPECTING RIGHT APPLICATION FOR INCLUSION INTO THE WESTERN PLATINUM (PTY) LTD MINING RIGHT, NEAR MARIKANA, NORTH WEST PROVINCE

Sibanye Stillwater Western Platinum Limited (WPL) has a Prospecting Right in place on various properties on the Farms Zwartkoppies and Schaapkraal. It is the intention of Sibanye Stillwater Western Platinum Limited, to apply to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy to include the Prospecting Right Area into their WPL Mining Right (NW30/5/1/2/2/106 MR).The proposal is for Sibanye Stillwater Western Platinum Limited (WPL) to undertake underground mining in these areas, as Mining extraction from the K4 Shaft mining block is expected to mature in 2040, and thus access into the Schaapkraal and Zwartkoppies Prospecting Right area is conceptually proposed to start in 2038 (underground mining).
It is imporatant to note that the Environmntal Authorisation is only for securing the prospecting right area by including the area in the current mining right. No surface infrasturcture is cuurently planned. A motivation has been included as part of this application.
