    Proposal Description
This application is for an extension or renewal of my excavation permit granted in 2020 (PermitID 3146; Amafa Ref. SAH20/15330).
Excavation will be conducted using standard archaeological techniques. These include establishing a coordinating grid over the sites, mapping exposed features, photography, and excavation of selected features. Excavation will proceed mainly with small trowels and dustpans within the framework of sub grids or trenches of 2 m squares, following archaeological and natural stratigraphy (if evident), or spits of no more than 10 cm depth. The excavation will target clusters of plant remains and sherds. Deposit will be sieved through fine mesh as necessary. Collected archaeological materials will be bagged, labelled and stored for further analysis in the laboratory. Specialist analyses will be conducted where necessary (e.g. faunal, floral, radiocarbon, isotopic, fabric, geochemical) in accordance with standard heritage and archaeological procedures.
