Proposal Description
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) has identified the need to improve operational conditions on the existing N3 Toll Road between Harrismith (N3-7X km 35.5) and Warden (N3-8X km 24.6). Road operational conditions will be improved by the construction of 7 (seven) interchanges, widening of five bridges, widening of one major culvert and the linking of various properties to the newly constructed interchanges.
This project would form part of the Strategic Infrastructure Project (SIP) 2: Durban-Free State-Gauteng logistics and industrial corridor.
The construction project will require the utilization of various quarries / borrow pits to supply the necessary materials. The proposed Borrow Pit A-15 is one of the borrow pit that has been identified to provide some of the material that would be required.
