Proposed Thebelele BESS Grid Connection Infrastructure near Theunissen, Free State Province

Thebelele Energy Facility (RF) (Pty) Ltd proposes the development of the Electricity Grid Infrastructure (EGI) project. The project will entail a grid substation with a capacity of 33 kV / 132 kV and a proposed 132 kV overhead power line which is intended to feed the excess energy stored by the proposed 100 MW/400 MWh Thebelele Energy Facility BESS project (assessed as a part of a separate Basic Assessment process) directly to the existing Eskom Theseus Main Transmission Substation (MTS). The proposed EGI is located north of Theunissen in the Masilonyana and Matjhabeng Local Municipalities, Lejweleputswa District Municipality, Free State Province.
The power line proposed to be developed will be up to 14km long (assessed within a 400m wide corridor, which in some places extends to 500 m) and the substation will be up to
1 hectares in extent. Associated infrastructure, such as access roads and limited laydown areas will also be developed.
The Thebelele Energy Facility EGI is intended to feed the excess energy stored by the proposed 100 MW/400 MWh Thebelele Energy Facility BESS project (assessed as a part of a separate Basic Assessment process) directly to the existing Eskom Theseus Main Transmission Substation (MTS).
