MINING RIGHT AND ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORIZATION, WASTE MANAGEMENT LICENCE, WATER USE LICENSE (WUL) WITH REF: WU35767, REZONING AND AIR EMISSIONS LICENSE FOR COAL ON PORTION OF PORTIONS 2 AND 34 OF THE FARM RIETFONTEIN 314 JS, SITUATED UNDER STEVE TSHWETE LOC

ReitCoal (Pty) Ltd has applied for a mining right in terms of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Act (Act No.28 of 2002) (MPRDA) (as amended) on portions 2 and 34 of the farm Rietfontein 314 JS (excluding Mining Permits with DMRE Ref: MP 30/5/1/1/3/14134 MP and MP 30/5/1/1/3/13007 MP). The proposed project is situated in the Magisterial District of Middelburg, under the jurisdiction of Nkangala District Municipality, within Steve Tshwete Local Municipality in Mpumalanga Province, with DMRE Reference Number: MP 30/5/1/2/2/ 10451 MR. The application area covers an area of approximately 400,698 hectares.
This application for a mining right is contingent upon obtaining Environmental Authorization in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (Act 107 of 1998) as amended and a waste management Licence (DWS REF: WU35767) in terms of the National Environmental Management Waste Act (Act 59 of 2008) as amended. In addition to this, the project will require a Water Use License in terms of the National Water Act, Act No. 36 of 1998 (NWA), an Atmospheric Emission Licence (AEL) in terms of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (NEMAQA) (Act 39 of 2004), and compliance with Rezoning in terms of Section 62 of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality Spatial Planning and Use Management By-Law, 2016.
