The permit application in respect of the above, received on the 2nd of June 2024 reviewed by the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute (The Institute) on the 24th of July 2024 refers.   

Please be advised as follows: 

  • During the deliberations, the committee noted that work had been conducted on site without AMAFA approval.
  • The committee assessed the property and found that the windows of the main house had been changed to aluminum windows. In addition, there were alterations made to the boundary wall as well.
  • We have no record that these alterations were approved by Amafa Institute. Additionally, there were no previously approved plans submitted that depict this alteration. 
  • The applicant is required to submit previously approved plans showing all alterations made to the property. If the alterations were made after the building turned 60 years old, the Applicant is required to submit a form I – for rectification of the work, together with the applicable fee.

Written responses/requests for reconsideration of requirements or consideration of new information must be loaded to the case on Sahris (email [email protected]) within 30 days of the date of this letter or any requirements/decisions contained herein will be considered final.  Extensions of this time frame can be requested upon receipt of motivation. 

Required additional information or revised drawings must be submitted within six months from the date of this letter or the application will lapse and a new application will be required. 

THIS LETTER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE FORMAL APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO THE INSTITUTE.  UNAUTHORISED WORK CARRIED OUT ON THE ABOVE SITE WILL BE IN CONTRAVENTION OF THE KWAZULU-NATAL AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE ACT (5 of 2018).
