Proposed Saffron BESS Energy Facility near Excelsior, in the Free State Province

This application is for the proposed development of the Saffron Battery Energy Storage System Facility near Excelsior, Free State Province. The proposed BESS Facility will connect to the Substation 275/88 kV MTS Substation. For the proposed Saffron BESS Facility to connect to the electrical grid, the normal components of a distribution rated electrical substation will also be required. The connection power line will be constructed within the limits of a proposed grid connection corridor. The proposed grid connection and corridor will be assessed in a separate Basic Assessment process.
