    Proposal Description
    Majahabesutfu Trading Pty Ltd was previously exempted from acquiring EA by the department given that they were storing dangerous goods that were below the threshold of 80 cubic metres. The applicant had to comply with Duty of Care for storing a capacity of 79 cubic metres in a 1.5 ha land, which did not trigger Listing notice 1(Activity 14 & 20). The applicant did not commence with the development in 2022 as they intended to. The proponent here referred as Majahabesutfu Trading (Pty) Ltd now intends to development a filling station of a capacity which is 450 cubic. Furthermore, the traffic count has demonstrated the need for the service within the area and the company seeks to invest in the proposed filling station to cater for more customers and provide convenience and experience of shopping within the facility. To obtain Environmental Authorisation, the proposed development will trigger Listing Notice 1 (327)(Activity 14 & 27 in terms of NEMA (Act No. 107 of 1998) as amended in 2017 which requires basic assessment process to be undertaken.

    Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty, Ltd has been appointed by Majahabesutfu Trading Pty Ltd to conduct a Basic Assessment (BA) process for the proposed development of a filling station. The project site is situated on Erf 6338, Unit 4 in Mmabatho ,Mahikeng Municipality in North West Province. The project located on the south eastern corner of the intersection between Sekame Street and Molathwa Drive. The study site is surrounded by lower income residential houses and higher density apartments.

    Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates as the appointed Environmental Independent Assessment Practitioner they are requited to undertake, the public participation process. The SAHRA has been identified as one of the relevant stakeholders, which we would like to submit the drafted Basic Assessment Report in relation to the filling station project .
