Varty Cottages

John Varty is proposing three thatch cottages adjacent to his private cottage on the Farm Sparta 259KU in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Mpumalanga. The two, to the east and west (approximating an area of 11.5 m x 6 m in extent each, and are 7.5 m from his cottage), are for John Varty’s daughter and sons, and have adjoining covered tin walkways inter-leading into his existing cottage. The cottage to the south of his existing cottage (measuring 13 m x 5.5 m, and 3 m from his cottage) will be for his studio. This gives a total area of just more than 200 square metres.

The covered walkway will lead into the 5 x 6 m bedroom/living area, which opens out onto a 3 x 6 m cement patio out front. Behind the living area is a 3 x 6 m ensuite bathroom, which opens out to a screened outdoor shower. A layout plan for the western cottage is included in Appendix M of the BAR. This will be mirrored in the eastern cottage.
