The Proposed Remark BESS and Associated Infrastructure near Odendaalsrus, Free State Province

Genesis Eco Developments, is proposing the installation and establishment of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure to accommodate the storage of energy. The associated infrastructure includes an on-site substation, access roads, operation and maintenance buildings, fencing and other auxiliary infrastructure. The capacity of the BESS will be up to 2 000 MW / 500 MWh and is proposed to be bid as part of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) bid window 3 for the Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP). The development is proposed on Portion 2 of the Farm Eva No. 127, Registration Division Odendaalsrus, situated within the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Lejweleputswa District Municipality. The proposed project area is approximately 1 km outside of the town of Odendaalsrus along the urban edge, Free State province.

The proposed development area is up to 20 ha in extent (excluding linear components).
