PERMIT APPLICATION FOR GROUND-PENETRATING RADAR SURVEY AND TEST EXCAVATIONS, ON PORTIONS 3 AND 9 OF THE FARM WELTEVREDEN 381 JT, NEAR BELFAST, WITHIN THE MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

PGS Heritage has been appointed by Mbuyelo Coal - Xivono Mining (Ntimeni Colliery) Pty (Ltd), to affect the relocation of 41 graves (Phase 1). During the exhumation of these graves, an individual came forward who identified a new location where more graves are located. The possible four graves (NTI_C11) are located approximately 100m from the NTI_C01 cemetery (where these individuals’ graves were exhumed and relocated from). This individual is not related to the graves but is aware of the old homestead where possible graves are located. The individual, unfortunately, didn’t have any information about the family who is associated with this old homestead and possible graves. The new location was recorded. The client (Mbuyelo Coal - Xivono Mining) requested that a GPR survey and test excavations take place to investigate the individual’s claim. This area is planned for future mining and the client would like to confirm whether there are graves at the identified location. The possible graves are located on portions 3 and 9 of the farm Weltevreden 381 JT, near Belfast, Mpumalanga Province
