Extension of electricity distribution at Chamama Forest, Confimvaba

Electrical re-distribution work is proposed for Chamama Forest of Intsika Yethu Local Municipality, Eastern Cape. An Environmental Impact Assessment does not apply to this project. This EMP is conducted independently in terms of the National Environmental Management Act. The proposed project is the electrical distribution at Chamama Forest, which is under the jurisdiction of the Intsika Yethu Local Municipality.. The village is situated a 15km from Confimvaba central. The electrical distribution will be an extension from an already existing electrical distribution within the Chamama Forest households. The houses the distribution is proposed for are built on foothills of gentle slopes. Evidence of minor erosion was noted with a few dongas observed. Graveyards found were within homestead yards and will not be disturbed during the construction. From the assessment, Chamama Forest is not regarded as an environmentally sensitive area, thus minimal interaction with the environment. Therefore, proposed development will not be hindered.
