Extension of electricity distribution at Mkwanti Village , Confimvaba

Electrical re-distribution work is proposed for 6 households in Mkwanti Village of Intsika Yethu Local Municipality, Eastern Cape. An Environmental Impact Assessment does not apply to this project. This EMP is conducted independently in terms of the National Environmental Management Act. The proposed project is the electrical distribution at Mkwanti village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Intsika Yethu Local Municipality. The village is situated a 8km from Tsomo. The electrical distribution will be an extension from an already existing electrical distribution within the Mkwanti Village households. The houses the distribution is proposed for are built on foothills of gentle slopes. Evidence of minor erosion was noted. No graveyard was found in the vicinity of the proposed site, therefore there will be no disturbance. From the assessment, Mkwanti Village is not regarded as an environmentally sensitive area, thus minimal interaction with the environment. Therefore, proposed development will not be hindered
