Proposal Description
Dihlabeng Local Municipality intends to establish a gravel mine of about 4.69 Ha in Bethlehem
on farm Kuypsheim 901 in the Dihlabeng Local Municipality. The proposed gravel mine is
approximately 10 km north-east of Bethlehem Central. The objective of the gravel mine is to
provide Dihlabeng Local Municipality with gravel material to be used for special maintenance
purposes in Bethlehem.
The applicant is thus hereby applying for a Mining Permit for the development of the
proposed gravel mine for a 2 year period from the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR)
with their offices in Welkom, Free State in accordance to Section 27 of the Mineral and
Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act 28 of 2002).
