Proposal Description
Recent excavations at Strathalan Cave A recovered an abundance of charcoal and organic material. Four charcoal samples from four layers (Spits 2, 7, 10 and 13) were selected to be radiocarbon dated in an attempt to link technological with environmental change, and to contextualise the chronology of the site. These dates are also critical for the forthcoming publication reporting on the results of the test pit excavations. Samples will be sent to the Poznan Radiocarbon Laboratory in Poland. Given the relatively long turn-over at radiocarbon laboratories, it is hoped that the samples could sent by early October 2024.
