GLENCORE OPERATIONS SOUTH AFRICA (PTY) LTD SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC FACILITY BEHIND THE METER

Glencore Operations South Africa (Pty) Ltd (GOSA) (‘the Applicant’) has appointed Setala Environmental (Pty) Ltd to apply for Environmental Authorisation for the construction of 3 x 20MW Alternating Current (AC) Solar Photovoltaic Facilities for the three Glencore Operations South Africa (Pty) Ltd (“GOSA”) iMpunzi, GGV (“GGV”) and Tweefontein(“TFN”).

LOCALITY
The proposed project is located at three GOSA Complexes, iMpunzi, GGV, and TFN ± 20 km southwest of Emalahleni and 110km from Pretoria. The project site is located in three separate areas on various farm portions in the Emalahleni Local Municipality, Mpumalanga Province. The study site is south of the N12 National Highway, south and southeast of Ogies, and in close proximity to the R545, R555, and R547.
The PV facility and its associated infrastructure are proposed on the farms Boschmansfontein 12-IS, Tweefontein 13-IS, Zaaiwater 11-IS, Goedgevonden 10-IS and Kromfontein 30-IS in Emalahleni Local Municipality, Nkangala District, Mpumalanga Province.
The TFN, GGV and iMpunzi PV sites are located in the Emalahleni REDZ (Zone 9).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Tweefontein, Goedgevonden (GGV), and iMpunzi PV facilities will have a contracted capacity of up to 60MW and a development footprint of approximately 171 hectares.
