    Proposal Description
The current road was constructed years ago (the construction date is not known). It is understood from the community representatives that the local Municipality gravelled the road some time ago. The road has structural (pavement) failures, very wet areas during and after rains and suffers in general from poor stormwater drainage. There are also signs of erosion next to the road. Safe driving on this road during or after rains is dangerous.

The work envisaged in this project entails the upgrade of a 6,5km length on an existing gravel surfaced District Road by fixing potholes and eroded sections and constructing a new gravel wearing coarse in accordance with DoT requirements for a District Road. The technical scope in the document items is:
    • Clear required road width.
    • Earthworks as required to repair potholes and eroded sections and shape to design alignment levels including required cambers.
    • Construct culverts where required.
    • Storm water management channels.
    • Constructing gravel wearing coarse.
    • Erecting required barriers and signage
