Proposal Description
In order to diversify and strengthen the national energy supply for South Africa a variety of energy storage facilities are being planned to help stabilise the energy supply. Chertan Energy (Pty) Ltd. is proposing the establishment of the Chertan Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located on the Farm Rooidam 2354 over a surface are of approximately 12ha. The proposed Chertan Battery Energy Storage System, with a Maximum Export Capacity up to 150 MW and up to 600 MWh (4-hour) storage capacity.
