Proposal Description
In order to diversify and strengthen the national energy supply for South Africa a variety of energy storage facilities are being planned to help stabilise the energy supply. Giausar Energy (Pty) Ltd. is proposing the establishment of the Giausar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located on the Farm Welgegund 1623 over a surface are of approximately 12ha. The proposed Giausar Battery Energy Storage System, with a Maximum Export Capacity up to 150 MW and up to 600 MWh (4-hour) storage capacity.
