Interim Comment:

The SAHRA Development Applications Unit (DAU) is making the following comments in terms of section 38(8) of the NHRA as contemplated by the EA process in terms of section 24(4)b(ii) of NEMA;

• The KML file submitted is mapped using points and therefore, a KML file mapping the entire development footprint must be submitted.
• From the mapped points, the footprint lies on a moderate sensitivity and the polygon mapping may extend further to a small highly sensitive area.
• A desktop Palaeontological Impact Assessment, complying with the SAHRA 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Components of Heritage Impact Assessments, is required for consideration.
•  A letter of exemption from this study by a specialist, if deemed appropriate, may be submitted for consideration.
• Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the desktop PIA, KML file and revised DBAR that incorporates the results and recommendations of the PIA.
