Background
Setala Environmental (Pty) Ltd has been appointed as the independent environmental assessment practitioner (EAP) to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Applicant (Uretech Holdings (Pty) Ltd). The development entails the storage and handling of a dangerous good, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), where such storage occurs in containers with a combined capacity of less than 500 cubic metres (m3). The project site (study site) is located on Portion 253 of the Farm Hartebeestfontein 445-JQ, which is situated north of the Hartebeespoort Dam and Magaliesberg Ridge; south of the N4 and Brits; and immediately west of the R511. The site is approximately 9.2 hectares in extent.
Scope of the Project
The development entails the storage and handling of a dangerous good (LPG) where such storage occurs in containers with a combined capacity of less than 500 cubic metres.
The applicant proposes to construct two mounded LPG Vessels of 67 500 liters each which equates to 135 000 liters/ 135 cubic meters.
