Oak Grid Connection Corridor

PROPOSED OAK GRID CONNECTION CORRIDOR ON THE FARMS HAKKIES 742, KALKOENKRANS 225 AND DOORNRIVIER 330, NEAR WELKOM, MATJHABENG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, FREE STATE PROVINCE. The purpose of the power line is to feed the energy stored at the associated Battery Energy Storage (BESS) facilities into the national grid via the Theseus MTS. The four associated BESS facilities had been registered in terms of the Government Notice Nr 50387, 27 March 2024, “Norm for the Exclusion of Identified Activities Associated with the Development and Expansion of Battery Storage Facilities in Areas of Low or Medium Environmental Sensitivity". They had been registered by the Department of Foresrtry, Fishieries and the Environment (DFFE) as follows: Bokmakierie BESS Energy Facility and Associated Infrastructure - BESS/2024/FS/38, Janfrederik BESS Energy Facility and Associated Infrastructure - BESS/2024/FS/39, Clove BESS Energy Facility and Associated Infrastructure - BESS/2024/FS/40 and Fennel BESS Energy Facility and Associated Infrastructure – BESS/2024/FS/41.
