Case Decision - 354967

The application was considered by the Provincial Heritage Authority, the KwaZulu Natal Amafa and Research Institute on 30 October 2024. The documents submitted in support of the application were reviewed.

Amongst other things, the following was discussed: 

• The committee noted the applicant had submitted the proof of public participation, as had been required. 
• It was noted that there would be a meeting to be held between the consultant, Umngeni Water and Isimangaliso Wetland Park. A copy of the comments or minutes would be forwarded after the meeting.  
• It was noted that DFFE raised their concerns regarding the impact that the development would have on the World Heritage Site and the applicant would need to address the concerns raised.  

FURTHER REQUIREMENT  

• The applicant was required to submit the minutes of the meeting held with Isimangaliso Wetland Park. 
• The case officer requested from HOC to seek advice from Dr Galimberti and SAHRA before commenting since the proposed development is on a World Heritage Site.
