    Proposal Description
PGS Heritage has been appointed by BILA Mining (Elandskraal Mine), to affect the relocation of graves from the ‘Ou Kraal Cemetery’ located on Portion 2 of the farm Elandskraal 469 JQ, near Mooinooi, within the North-West Province. Phase 1 of the project deals with approximately one-hundred-and-seventy (170) graves which will be affected by mining activities within the BILA Mining area. Of the 170 graves that need to be relocated, 42 graves have been identified by families and 128 graves will be relocated as unknowns as no families came forward to claim these graves during the stakeholder engagement process. Some of the graves will be cremated where others will be reburied in a municipal and/or traditional cemetery, at the request of the next-of-kin. We will be assisted on this project by local service providers. The stakeholder engagement process, to identify the closest next of kin for the graves commenced on 17 November 2023.

Phase 2 of the project will consist of relocating approximately twenty-three (23) graves which will remain at the cemetery until the stakeholder engagement process is completed and the families of the remaining graves are willing to relocate.
