This permit application is for the destruction of iron age site RPVF-01 (known as LIA09) at Rhovan Vanadium Mine, located on Portion 0 of the Farm Leeuwpen 403 JQ, Portion 0 of the Farm Beestkraal 397 JQ and RE of Portion 2 of Farm Losperfontein 405 JQ within the Rustenburg Local Municipality, Bojanala Platinum District, North West Province. The heritage feature was to be impacted by the approved 25MV Solar Photovoltaic facility.
The excavation of the site revealed that the site RPVF-01 (which was renamed Site LIA09) lacked cultural material emphasizes the low heriage significance of the site.
